    Position Description
    Position Title: Youth Program Coordinator
    Reports to: Executive Director
    Conditions: Permanent Full Time (35 hours per week), reporting to the Executive Director. This position works cooperatively with the Afterschool Program Coordinator.


    Position Summary
    The purpose of the Youth Program Coordinator position is to plan, develop, implement and administer the Youth Program within The Boys and Girls Club of Leduc. Primary responsibilities include ensuring that all elements are in place to ensure the successful delivery of Club programming and events. As well, the Youth Program Coordinator will be responsible for keeping the Executive Director adequately and accurately informed of all matters as it pertains to youth programming.
     
    Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
     
    1. Program Administration
    1. Develop educational, recreation and social/emotional skill building programs which target identified youth needs/wants.
    2. Ensure the procurement of all necessary program materials and supplies.
    3. Deliver programs (with the assistance of junior program staff) in accordance with the Boys and Girls Club mission and core values.
    4. Actively engaging with program participants, staff and volunteers.
    5. Investigate potential funding opportunities and develop funding proposals.
    6. Develop program budgets and operate programs within the approved budget. Submit financial information, reports and supporting documentation as requested by the Executive Director.
    7. Develop and maintain a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the program and identify areas for improvement.
    8. Provide input regarding programming and recommend changes to enhance the program. Development of yearly/monthly program plans
     
    1. Staff Management:
    1. Upon approval from the Executive Director, participate in staff recruitment and hiring processes.
    2. Provide necessary training, orientation, support and supervision to youth program staff.
    3. Ensure program staff members adhere to organizational expectations, policies and procedures.
    4. Provide staff with clearly defined duties and responsibilities.
    5. Evaluate and provide feedback regarding staff member performance.
     
    1. Youth Participant Services:
    1. Plan for and ensure, the safety, security and enjoyment of youth attending the program.
    2. Annually assess youth programming needs and opportunities.
    3. Seek out innovative opportunities to connect with community youth outside of program parameters.
    4. Address (and support staff in addressing) all matters related to youth behavior management.
    5. Act as the liaison for youth participant parents as it relates to all youth member activities.
    6. Convey clear and accurate information to parents and youth as needed.
     
    1. Marketing and Promotion:
    1. Regularly monitor and update all Club social media pages and website.
    2. Create promotional mechanisms for club programming and events.
    3. Regularly document Club programming and events through video and pictures.
    4. Promote and market Club programming and events within the broader community, using multiple mediums.
    5. Attend community events and meetings as instructed by the Executive Director.
     
    1. Community Partnerships:
    1. Actively seek out community partnering opportunities.
    2. Annually assess existing community programming available for youth, monitoring for gaps and opportunities.
    3. Maintain positive, working relationships with all other local, youth serving organizations.
     
    Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
    • Experience with working with youth within the targeted demographic (12-18 years)
    • Experience in programming for youth
    • Ability to connect with youth and an understanding of their needs/perspective
    • Strong organizational skills and adaptability
    • Valid First Aid Certification
    • Clean Drivers Abstract
    • Valid Driver’s License
    Additional Requirements         
     
    Satisfactory completion of additional duties as instructed/required. All successful candidates will be required to complete and supply a successful criminal record check, Child Welfare Investigation Screening and recent employer reference checks (2 minimum).
    Candidates living within the City of Leduc are preferred.
     
     
    Starting Salary Range based on candidate qualifications and skills.
