• Business Awards General Criteria

        Chamber members (excluding Chamber Board members) may nominate themselves.

    •     All nominees must be an active employee with a business or be an active business that is a member in good standing with the Leduc Regional Chamber of Commerce.
    •     Members with current representation on the Leduc Chamber Board of Directors do not qualify for nomination.
    •     Businesses and/or individuals may only win in one award category.
    •     Previous nominees/winners can be nominated in the same category as years past.
    •     The Leduc Regional Chamber of Commerce is committed to follow up on all nominations.

    Awards Categories

    Business of the Year

    This award recognizes a business of 11+ employees that shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Innovation and creativity in business (sales, marketing, diversification, products/services);
    •     Proven business growth (employees, markets, locations);
    •     Outstanding business accomplishments/awards; and
    •     Active involvement in community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations).

    Small Business of the Year

    This award recognizes a small business of 1-10 employees that shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Innovation and creativity in business (sales, marketing, diversification, products/services);
    •     Proven business growth (employees, markets, locations);
    •     Outstanding business accomplishments/awards; and
    •     Active involvement in community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations).

    Agriculture & Food Business of the Year

    This award recognizes an agriculture business that shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Innovation and creativity in business (production, and/or processing, and/or sales and marketing);
    •     Proven business sustainability and/or growth (employees, markets, locations);
    •     Outstanding accomplishments in agriculture, aquaculture, and/or value-added food processing; and
    •     Active involvement in community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations).

    People’s Choice Award for Customer Service (voted on by the public online)

    This award recognizes an individual who shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Principles and practices of excellence and creativity in customer service, including:
    •     Going above and beyond expected service; and
    •     Demonstrating honest, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable service with each customer interaction.

    Business Start-up of the Year

    This award recognizes a new business (started less than three years ago) that shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Innovation and creativity in business (sales, marketing, diversification, products/services);
    •     Sustainable business growth (employees, markets, locations);
    •     Overcoming challenges; and
    •     Active involvement in community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations).

    Young Business Leader of the Year

    This award recognizes young business people, age 35 (born on or after January 1, 1981) and under who shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Significant accomplishments in their careers;
    •     Examples of innovative or creative business ideas (sales, marketing, diversification, products/services);
    •     Growth in career and leadership abilities; and
    •     Active involvement in the community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations).

    Professional Services Business of the Year

    This award recognizes a professional services business (formally certified member of a professional body including, but not limited to: law, medical, dental, accounting, financial, insurance, real estate) who shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Innovation and creativity in business (sales, marketing, services);
    •     Proven business growth (employees, markets, locations, client base);
    •     Commitment to continued advancement in field (professional development, education, technology);
    •     Outstanding business accomplishments/awards; and
    •     Active involvement in community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations).

    Exporter of the Year

    This award recognizes a business who exports and who shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Significant accomplishments in international market penetration;
    •     Shown notable growth in their overall business as a direct result of their export activities;
    •     Demonstrated significant year-to-year percentage growth in value of export sales or increased sales volume over the past year;
    •     Demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles or other unique challenges in entering new international market(s);
    •     Demonstrated quality of their export plan through use of innovation and strategies to promote brand awareness in their export market(s);
    •     Demonstrate commitment and involvement in the community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations)
