• 2018 Awards General Criteria

    Chamber members (excluding Chamber Board members) may nominate themselves.

    •     All nominees must be an active employee with a business or be an active business that is a member in good standing with the Leduc Regional Chamber of Commerce.

    •     Members with current representation on the Leduc Chamber Board of Directors do not qualify for nomination.

    •     Businesses and/or individuals may only win in one award category.

    •     Previous nominees/winners can be nominated in the same category as years past.

    •     The Leduc Regional Chamber of Commerce is committed to follow up on all nominations.

    Awards Categories

    Legacy Award

    This award recognizes a business that has been in operation for 20 years or more that shows some or all of the following:                 

    • Business must be in operation for at least 20 years

    • Proven business growth and/or contributions to local employment

    • Outstanding business accomplishments/awards; and

    • Active involvement in community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations).

    Large Business of the Year

    This award recognizes a business of 20+ employees that shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Innovation and creativity in business (sales, marketing, diversification, products/services);

    •     Proven business growth (employees, markets, locations);

    •     Outstanding business accomplishments/awards; and

    •     Active involvement in community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations).

    Medium Business of the Year

    This award recognizes a small business of 6-19 employees that shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Innovation and creativity in business (sales, marketing, diversification, products/services);

    •     Proven business growth (employees, markets, locations);

    •     Outstanding business accomplishments/awards; and

    •     Active involvement in community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations).

    Small Business of the Year

    This award recognizes a small business of 1-5 employees that shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Innovation and creativity in business (sales, marketing, diversification, products/services);

    •     Proven business growth (employees, markets, locations);

    •     Outstanding business accomplishments/awards; and

    •     Active involvement in community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations).

    Agriculture & Food Business of the Year

    This award recognizes an agriculture or food business that shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Innovation and creativity in business (production, and/or processing, and/or sales and marketing);

    •     Proven business sustainability and/or growth (employees, markets, locations);

    •     Outstanding accomplishments in agriculture, aquaculture, and/or value-added food processing; and

    •     Active involvement in community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations).

    Non-Profit Award

    This award recognizes a non-profit organization who shows all of the following:         

    • Incorporation as a legitimate society or charitable organization;

    • Sustained growth (employees, clients, volunteers, programs/services);

    • Dedicated focus on achieving their vision and mandate; and

    • Active involvement and leadership in community (other groups/organizations, business, associations)

    Business Start-up of the Year

    This award recognizes a new business (started less than three years ago) that shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Innovation and creativity in business (sales, marketing, diversification, products/services);

    •     Sustainable business growth (employees, markets, locations);

    •     Overcoming start-up challenges; and

    •     Active involvement in community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations).

    Young Business Leader of the Year

    This award recognizes young business people, age 40 (born on or after January 31, 1978) and under who shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Significant accomplishments in their careers;

    •     Examples of innovative or creative business ideas (sales, marketing, diversification, products/services);

    •     Growth in career and leadership abilities; and

    •     Active involvement in the community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations).

    Professional Services Business of the Year

    This award recognizes a professional services business (formally certified member of a professional body including, but not limited to: law, medical, dental, accounting, financial, insurance, real estate) who shows some or all of the following:         

    •     Innovation and creativity in business (sales, marketing, services);

    •     Proven business growth (employees, markets, locations, client base);

    •     Commitment to continued advancement in field (professional development, education, technology);

    •     Outstanding business accomplishments/awards; and

    •     Active involvement in community and industry (charitable/community groups, non-profits, business/professional associations).
